Matt the Miller’s Tavern
Grandview Heights

Posted by Mike

I’ve been to Matt the Miller’s Tavern’s Dublin location quite a few times when I lived there. In fact my first date with my wife was there over 3 years ago. Now living in Grandview Heights, it’s a short walk to that location for us. Located among the shops and other restaurants along Grandview Ave, MTM has about 26 draft handles and a fantastic bottle selection as well.

The staff is very knowledgeable of what’s on tap and will even offer recommendations based on your favorite style. A few beers included on that draft list last time I was there, Dogfish Head Urkontinent (limited), New Holland Beerhive Honey Ginger Tripel Ale, Stone Imperial Russian Stout, Brew Kettle 4C, and Bear Republic Big Bear Black Stout.

A few months ago I had an insert in my beer menu called the “The Secret Stach”. That’s right, they have a “secret beer menu”. They don’t always have these inserts in the menus so you’ll have to ask for it. This time I received a hand written compiled list from the bartender. Though I wouldn’t call some of the beers on the list much of a secret ( Founders Dirty Bastard, Anderson Valley Oatmeal Stout ), others impressed me ( Founders Devil Dancer, Stone Vertical Epic 11.11.11 ). I did end up snagging a bomber of 11.11.11 before I left to age until this years release.

There are a few “negatives” I must list. The 26 draft handles are peppered with crap like Bud Light, Blue Moon, Labatt, etc. The price of beer and food is going to be a little more than your average bar. It’s a little more of an upscale atmosphere than most craft beer bars. That being said, the food is excellent and the price is totally worth it in my opinion. Be warned though, you could end up sitting at the bar sandwiched between groups of middle aged women on Ladies Night talking about making out with random men.

Make sure to follow MTM on Twitter to learn about new beers on draft and upcoming tastings/food pairings.
